New Bathroom Plans

The plans are underway for the bathroom renovations. My girls are trying to convince me  that concrete is the way to go on the counters and shower, mmm, just not sure about that one. I like marble and granite and travertine, and concrete oh, just don't think I can do that.

We will replicate the cabinets throughout the house for continuity and accent with black as we did in the kitchen. I think it will be very nice when it's done. One thing about being in a home for nearly 15 years is that there are always updates to do. Many people choose to sale and enjoy the adventure of a new home, and while that is appealing I love the thought of having a home base where memories have been made.

I also like the tradition of passing down a home to the next generation, it reminds me of the south and of generations that have passed. So for now, we will renovate, add new paint, new tiles, and counters of marble or granite, hardwood floors and new carpet.

As we gather around plans, estimates and check out new sinks and faucets we are getting excited about getting rid of the old and enjoying the new!

A Glimpse of the Kitchen

This was completed 2 years ago and we have now called the gang back to start the renovation of the bathrooms! So here is a glimpse of the finished kitchen!

We have added appliances, but the idea is here.

View from the opposite end of the kitchen

We have created an espresso bar here and have added the refrigerator below. The black knobs have also been added to the cabinets.

The Kitchen Makeover

I enjoy thinking about the endless possibilities of updating my home. I think about it for a very long time before I finally decide to dive in and take action. This is just the way it was with my kitchen renovation, I researched, looked at endless color schemes and then called in the experts. I totally disliked my cabinets, the color had no personality and was the standard oak finish with brass hardware. I loved the arrangement of my cabinets and especially loved my large island.

The tile was ugly, the back splash dull and the hood vent unimaginative. So I was pretty open to to getting rid of it and having a little bit of fun with it.

The desk area was a junk drop off spot and I was open to a possible wine area or something...anything really.

So, we gutted the tile, sink, vent, stove and began the updating. This ended up being a 7 day project which I thought was pretty quick.

The island was the center piece with an antique black finish, and the cabinets an antique cream. The hood vent got a complete makeover, as did the desk area.

We decided on a wine area, adding a beverage refrigerator below.

It took shape rather quickly I think. The back-splash was a challenge, I wanted something that would stand out. So I chose travertine tile with metal button accents to match my copper hood. Lots of metal buttons!!!

The true colors are hard to see
More to come!

Some Places Are Worth Revisiting

The trade winds are warm and the Hilton Hawiaan Village is complete with gardens, shops and so many eatteries.

A walk down Waikiki is still beautiful and satisfying after all these years.

The Mai Tai Catamarran was the best for ..Mai Tais, snorkeling and dolphin watching

All in all a great place to return to, and a great place to get a rest!
